Do I enter prices with or without GST?
With GST, exactly as they appear on your bill. Every price of ours on this site includes GST, so you are comparing like with like.
Where do the "overpriced" lines come from?
Our judgement, based on what we charge and what is normal for Australian hosting and domains. They are not a market survey. A domain renewal is flagged above $50 a year for .com.au, $50 for .au and $60 for .com. Hosting is flagged when you pay more than our managed plans but get fewer of the basics, or more than $220 a month whatever it includes.
Why does it say my cheap hosting is fine?
Because it might be. For a site that simply needs to be online, cheap hosting is a reasonable choice. What matters more than the price is whether there are backups you could actually restore.
I pay for hosting yearly. What do I enter?
Enter the yearly amount and choose "per year". It is divided by twelve before it is compared. If you pay for a domain for two years at once, halve it first.
Do you keep what I enter?
No. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere. The figures sit in the page address so you can bookmark the result, and that is the only place they exist.
